CHARACTER NAME: Misfire
AGE: Millions of years old!
CANON: Transformers (IDW)
CANON POINT: Just after MTMTE #8, when the Scavengers leave the planet Clemency after fighting off the Decepticon Justice Divison.
FAMILY TYPES:
Dragon's Roar - Misfire doesn't know when to shut up. He's not afraid to tell someone their plan is idiotic, is loud with his opinions, and will argue his point among his group until someone can finally prove him wrong.
Jungle Troopers - Misfire always manages to find himself a new adventure or more trouble to get himself into, but had to deal with some issues about his horrible aim among the Decepticon ranks.
Wind Guardians - Despite the Decepticon badge, Misfire is more of a drifter. While most Decepticons could stumble upon something grotesque and be overjoyed, his first reaction is to run away screaming. Although most of his ideas seem nonsensical to others, they make perfect sense to himself, and once he's involved in something, he'll stick by his team, no matter how begrudging he may act about it.
APPEARANCE:
Misfire was pretty average-sized for a Cybertronian, and as a human, that doesn't change too much. Standing at 5'8", Misfire has dark skin and a surprisingly fit figure that's bordering on skinny (which is strange, considering he eats like a horse). He wears a dark grey button-up vest with a popped-out collar and magenta buttons, a white under-tank, and dark brown cargo pants tucked into hiking boots and taped down with medical tape. His hands are wrapped up much like a boxer's.
His hair is a strange magenta color, cut shaggy and with large sideburns, and his eyes glow a faint red -- his pupils seem strangely dilated most of the time. He often has a broad smirk or smile on his face.
PERSONALITY:
So obviously, Misfire's name has some sort of meaning. And it's a short one, "involving a machine gun, a misunderstanding, and a dozen dead Decepticons". One of his defining qualities is the fact that he is literally the worst shot in the universe (although Swerve might be even worse, but that's another story); even if it's something simple like throwing a ball, he will find some way to not only completely miss his target, but end up hitting some poor, innocent bystander instead.
Perhaps a quality of his even more prominent than his horrible aim is the fact he has pretty serious Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, which gives him a somewhat childish demeanor. He's constantly bouncing from one idea to the next, and tends to speak in a stream of consciousness, fluidly moving between two or three ideas in one breath and completely expecting whoever is on the other end of conversation to follow along. He's over-dramatic about everything, able to go from being excited over something to wailing over how they're all going to die in the span of about five seconds. And speaking of excitement, it's very easy to get him riled up about something. He's a big believer of magic, and often runs off from a group to chase the mysterious Cybertronian Grim Reaper, the Necrobot. Of course, he never manages to catch him.
On the bright side, he's incredibly friendly, although the Decepticon/Autobot divide certainly still exists and he's more than a bit wary when it comes to cozying up to an Autobot (mostly because most Autobots he's met have been more than happy to try and kill him). He refers to pretty much everyone he meets by a term of endearment, although they're not always the nicest ones; his favorites seem to be "pinhead" and "loser". This is especially noticeable with the members of his team, dubbed "The Scavengers". Within the Scavengers, he'll casually insult them and talk about all of their negative qualities to someone without a care in the world, like when he refers to Spinister as "literally the stupidest person in the universe". But although he's friendly enough, he can be a bit overwhelming on first meeting. Fulcrum refers to Misfire's rapid-speed introduction to the rest of the team as "relentless".
Unfortunately, his definition of "friendly" tends to come off a bit... creepy, and he doesn't see much point of mourning a lost friendship or teammate. When Flywheels is killed by the DJD, he only offers a deadpan "boo-hoo" and then immediately sets to scavenging what's left of the body. And he has no qualms with doing this to any other friends he might make. In fact, he'll probably even tell them that he won't let any of their parts go to waste.
He's also incredibly savvy. Although he'll go along with a plan if someone makes a decent enough argument, no matter how stupid it sounds, he'll be the first one to suggest that they run away screaming if a situation becomes dubious or dangerous. There's a good reason that he's considered one of the worst Decepticons of all time, after all; he wouldn't exactly call himself "cowardly", but he definitely prefers living over the possibility of sticking his neck out for an unworthy cause.

FIRST PERSON:
Hey, pinheads!
[Greets the cheerful new face on the communicator, his expression one of smarmy obliviousness.]
So this little organic thing tells me that I'm stuck in this little organic universe with a little organic body of my own. Can't say I really... like being pushed into this without a choice, but hey! That's life, isn't it? Haha. Anyway, what's up, losers? The name's Misfire, and I'm a something-million old Cybertronian who likes long walks on the Sea of Rust's coast, energon (and that's an understatement, seriously, I really like energon!), and, uh, cheating death, I guess. 'Least, that's how it seems to go these days. So anyway, uh, you guys have any tips for a new flesh-bag or whatever? Because man, this is an adjustment. To say the least. Yeah.
THIRD PERSON:
Misfire wasn't the luckiest mech around. His name hadn't even originally been "Misfire"; he'd only gotten that name after someone made the deadly mistake of giving him the machine gun on his first mission with an entire army surrounding him. He couldn't help that his aiming systems kept glitching out! But he was a Decepticon. He had to make do, lest he be deemed a coward and a traitor to the cause. And to the 'Cons, the only thing worse than being an Autobot was being a coward.
Ending up on Clemency with all of these other misfits, though... Misfire kind of almost felt at home. These mechs all had their own issues, things that set them apart, and he could relate. Granted that Spinister was frustratingly confusing on occasion, caught up in his own thoughts and world, and Crankcase would probably literally die if he ever smiled so there was a serious grumpy factor, but Misfire made do. The only real problem they'd was when he'd sampled some circuit speeder-dosed Energon and wound up talking at practically the speed of light.
And then they adopted Fulcrum, unofficially. Sure, he'd almost gotten them all killed by the D.J.D., but he was a good enough sort. Misfire liked him, quite a bit actually, although he certainly had a strange way of showing it. Of course, he'd gotten a bit of chewing out by Krok for accidentally shooting a superior in the face (he was aiming for the guy holding him, honestly), and they had to deal with the addition of a brain-damaged Autobot now, but Misfire was still happy. After all, if you can fight a team of overly-patriotic Decepticons who specialize in torture, you can really do anything, right?
Misfire grins, and points in the direction of adventure. And he doesn't even mind when pretty much everyone else lets out a derisive groan in protest.
